How was the 2019 Sturgis Buffalo Chip

It’s a wrap for the 79th Sturgis Motorcycle Rally and year two of Continental sponsoring Sturgis’s most popular camp site known to most bikers as “The Chip”. The Buffalo Chip Campground, “The Chip”, is located 3 miles east of Sturgis, SD on 600 creek-fed acres offering 8 stages of entertainment, swimming hole, bars, RV camping and much more. Owner of the campground Rod Woodruff in 2016 petitioned to incorporate his land and in 2018 the South Dakota Supreme Court decided that The Buffalo Chip was indeed a city.

The 2 week festival has become the world’s preeminent celebration of music, motorcycles, freedom and camaraderie. The 2019 edition was a rally goer’s dream in every imaginable way. The world class artist, acts such as Keith Urban, Dee Snider, Toby Keith and Snoop “D-O-double G” rocked the stage. The racing action was intense and the rock, rumble and rebellious atmosphere of the Chip was at an all-time high. Bringing a national and international base of motorcycle riders from all different walks of life that all have one thing in common – they all need TIRES!

In addition to the festivities within “The Chip”, it’s the roads found outside “The Chip” that continually bring motorcycle adrenaline junkies returning to the Black Hills of South Dakota year in and year out. The winding roads with postcard like scenery, beautiful switch-backs and steep canyons along the Black Hills provide some of the best riding in the country. And with extensive riding comes maintenance. Enter The Buffalo Chip Garage! The Garage located at the CrossRoads offers an opportunity for riders to get an oil change, buy a new battery, install accessories and upgrade their TIRES! A perfect opportunity to promote Continental’s signature touring tire known as the ContiTour.

In 2018, Continental and Buffalo Chip signed an agreement to be the exclusive tire sold during the 2 week festival. an opportunity that allowed Continental to sell over 100+ tires to those seeking to take advantage of the beautiful scenery surrounding The Buffalo Chip. Fast forward, Continental just wrapped up their 2nd rally promoting the brand as the Official Tire of the Sturgis Buffalo Chip. A lot leaned from year 1 to year 2 and the experience paid off. The Continental team took advantage of several brand awareness opportunities, including having the Continental Harley-Davidson Road King on the front row of the highly anticipated Legends Ride. Rod Woodruff, mentioned above, captained the motorcycle along the 28.4 mile ride that included many celebrities such as Dee Snider and Tom Berringer. The 200+ roaring motorcycles ended the ride back at The Buffalo Chip. Parking their motorcycles right in front of the Continental booth. A booth that provided the 79th edition to Sturgis and its most popular campground an ability to upgrade their tires today!

Continental looks forward to the 80th edition and its continued sponsorship with The Buffalo Chip. We hope to see you next year – it’s going to be BIG!
