Getting to know Kevin Dunworth

Bike builder, Kevin Dunworth, of Dunworth Machines and formerly of Loaded Gun Customs, is a regular fixture on the custom bike scene and a pioneer of the modern custom style. It’s not unusual to find him on stage at international motorcycle shows or handing out awards at the Ace Corner during the Barber Vintage Fest.

His custom bikes have been featured in multiple motorcycle magazines, blog sites, print newspapers including The Wall Street Journal, and television programs like Esquire Network’s “Wrench Against the Machine”, Velocity’s “Naked Speed”  and HD Discovery Channel’s “Cafe Racer TV”.  These successes have earned him a place in the mainstream modern custom Motorcycle Scene around the world.

Kevin got his start in motorcycles, as many have, at a young age. Kevin was fascinated with his Dad’s tinkering on multiple motorcycle projects, and spent hours poring over the pictures and articles in his father’s motorcycle magazines. At the early age of 10, Kevin’s friend acquired an old Suzuki dirt bike. “My friend’s father said, ‘If you guys can start it, you can ride it.’ We figured it out and that set me in motion towards a love affair of riding motorcycles”, Kevin recalls.

After a brief career with race cars and racing mountain bikes (Kevin was a nationally ranked mountain biker at one time), and a short stint as a yacht broker, Kevin eventually found his way back to motorcycles. A serious boat show set-up injury led him to question his “life goals” and he decided to pursue his passion for motorcycles as a career.

Kevin’s style is a unique blend of vintage and modern, twisting classic bikes and modern technology into a creation that is uniquely “Dunworth”. “That’s one of the reasons I usually use Continental tires on my bike builds. I especially like to use the ContiClassicAttack for its modern performance and styling designed for vintage bikes”.

Kevin uses different Continental tires on his bikes depending on the look he’s going for. “Sometimes I’ll use the ContiTrack slicks on a bike that needs to have an edgy, high-performance look like in my most recent Kawasaki KZ1000.  The ContiTrack have the performance to back the looks too”, Kevin continues. Kevin has also used the ContiRoadAttack 2 CR, ContiRaceAttack Competition, TKC 80 and TKC 70 on multiple custom bike builds.

You can see Kevin’s builds at bike shows such as The Hand Built Show in Austin, TX or Momma Tried in Milwaukee, WI. For more information, check out and follow Kevin Dunworth’s custom builds on Instagram @dunworth_.
