Continental introduces the brand new ContiTrailAttack 3 and ContiScoot tires
Despite the gruesome weather and the shortened daylight hours, November holds what is possibly the most expected event of the year in terms of product launchings and news about the motorcycle sector. Indeed, EICMA has arrived and Continental could not miss such an opportunity to share its two latest announcements: ContiTrailAttack 3 and ContiScoot.
Even after its 104th edition, EICMA is still pumping the latest products for the motorcycle community.
These are some of the bikes that manufacturers had the opportunity to showcase among others:
- BMW’s S 1000 RR, the F 850 GS Adventure, BMW’s C 400 GT and the new 1250 engine in the rest of BMW’s R range (R 1250 GS, R 1250 RT, R 1250 R and R 1250 RS)
- The whole range from Ducati (as it was presented online the night before)
- Yamaha’s new Tenere
- KTM’s 790 Adventure
- Kawasaki Versys 1000
- Kymco’s electric hypersport concept, Aprilia’s RS660 concept
- Honda’s CBR 650 R, MV Agusta’s Brutale Serie Oro
As for Continental, we also had unexpected news for our riders. For the first time in our motorcycle range, we can show a premium scooter tire. ContiScoot has come to set the new standard on performance and safety on every surface. Conceived completely from scratch, its design is inspired from the ContiRoadAttack 3: outstanding dry & wet grip and excellent mileage is what riders can expect from its DNA. Furthermore, after the development tests performed in our facilities, we are proud to announce that the ContiScoot has the best dry and wet grip in the segment (when compared to the main benchmarks in premium scooter tires).
New: ContiTrailAttack 3
The major launch in Continental was the ContiTrailAttack 3. This is indeed an evolution of the existing ContiTrailAttack 2 but performance has drastically improved. The new TrailAttack 3 introduces a brand new technology for Continental motorcycle tires: Performance Over Lifetime (POT for short).
To begin with, the new TrailAttack 3 design is completely new . It now looks more aggressive and the grooves grow wider towards the shoulder as in the CTA2. Furthermore, the tread to void ratio has been carefully studied to provide an ideal distribution and allow for optimal performance. The rear tire now presents less grooves in the backbone area to improve mileage and stability.
In terms of R&D, the new CTA3 keeps all four technologies and adds two more: EasyHandling (already seen in the CRA3 range, it helps when slow-cornering and makes the bike nimbler in twisty roads) and the new Performance Over Time Core Technology: handling turns neutral despite tread wear and the tire’s contour keeps constant throughout the tire’s lifespan (only possible thanks to the MultiGrip technology). More details about the all new ContiTrailAttack 3 here.
New: ContiScoot
Continental has thought about the daily commuter all along the development processs. Both mileage and comfort are two major benefits of our new tire. Even the most punishing surfaces such as cobblestone were used as testing grounds to come up with a product that can handle every situation. Moreover, the tread design and contour have been specifically chosen to grant higher mileage, evenly wear and greater stability.
To be able to have a range that suits most of today’s scooters, the ContiScoot range varies from 12 inch to 16 inch sizes in both front and rear. If you were looking for a premium scooter tire that combines performance, safety and comfort to the max, look no more!
Overall, EICMA 2018 provided great and new unexpected products for all motorcycle enthusiasts; including Continental’s new scooter and dual-sport tires.
All that is left now is to wait for the tires to make it to the shelves. We look forward to hearing your experiences!
