The ContiRoadAttack 3 GT: Durable & Competitive

This GT version of the ContiRoadAttack 3 is made specifically for heavier touring motorcycles like the BMW R 1200 RS. It is a reinforced and longer wearing version of the award-winning ContiRoadAttack 3. Motorrad Magazine tested this GT version against toughest competition and it topped the standings in both wet braking and durability.

Six of the very latest sport touring tires, including the new Michelin Road 5, Metzeler Roadtec 01 and Bridgestone T31 were all put through their paces on a BMW R1200RS by Motorrad’s highly experienced team.

Wet Braking and Wear

Braking in the wet from 62mph, the ContiRoadAttack 3 GT stopped dead in 42.4 meters. In contrast, at that same distance, the last placed tire was still doing 17mph. Our unique RainGrip compound, combined with a re-engineered tread pattern work in harmony to give riders a real confidence boost when riding on wet tarmac.

When it came to mileage, after covering 2,237 miles the rear tire was 54% worn, and the front only 39.5% worn, making the ContiRoadAttack 3 GT the most durable of the size tires tested on both the front and rear wheel.

The durability of the ContiRoadAttack 3 range is aided by our unique MultiGrip technology, which creates a dual-compound style tire from a single piece of rubber. A meticulous rubber curing process creates a durable central area, which gets gradually softer towards the shoulders for a progressive increase in grip levels as you transition into corners.

It also benefits from our popular TractionSkin technology, which produces a micro-rough surface during the molding process to give riders increased grip from the moment a new tire is fitted, drastically reducing the initial scrubbing in period normally associated with new rubber.

The ContiRoadAttack 3 GT finished just 2 points shy behind 1st place in the overall test score.

The ContiRoadAttack 3 GT offers excellent security in the wet, great mileage, great stability and a neutral behavior.
