On- and off-road test day with the TKC 70 Rocks
Six experienced journalists specialized in two-wheeled vehicles put the Continental TKC 70 Rocks to the test. the 70 Rocks first entered the scene in mid-2020, and become an instant favorite amongst adventure riders. To find out if the tires could live up to the consumer hype, a group of reporters in Spain decided to put this rear-only tire through some rigorous testing both on and off-road. The test day was carried out so that those who know more about motorcycles could experience first-hand the sensations of these rear tires on all types of terrain and with different models of adventure bikes. But before showing the conclusions of the press, let’s analyze some of the most important characteristics of the TKC 70 Rocks.
The TKC70 Rocks is a rear radial tire designed to be combined with a standard TKC 70 or the more aggressive TKC80 on the front axle, thus offering the user extra performance and off-road grip. The TKC 70 Rocks is designed for adventure bikes and is positioned as one of the best tires for adventurers who use their adventure or maxi-adventure bikes for all types of terrain.
It is the lugs distributed throughout the tread that give the TKC 70 Rocks an improvement in off-road performance, positioning it between the standard TKC 70 and the more off-road TKC 80. The TKC 70 Rocks is developed and produced in Germany and features exclusive Continental MultiGrip, ZeroDegree and RainGrip technologies.
TKC 70 Rocks tested by the specialized press
On the route planned by Continental for the journalists, journalists were able to test the performance of the TKC 70 Rocks tire on all types of terrain on the following adventure models: Suzuki V-Strom 650, BMW F 850 GS, Honda Africa Twin, Moto Guzzi V85 TT, KTM 890 Adventure and Benelli TRK 502 X.
After a few kilometers they moved on to loose dirt tracks, alternating compacted dirt sections with long and steep climbs and wet sections where they experienced the traction of the TKC 70 Rocks. Finally, the press was able to ride on a motocross track to test the off-road performance of the rubber. Among the comments on the performance of the TKC 70 Rocks, the specialized journalists agreed on the balance they offer between on- and off-road riding: “It does not lose asphalt suitability and offers an extra step of traction in any off-road situation, especially in complex conditions, not only on plain and easy dirt tracks”.
The TKC 70 Rocks come in rear tires only and should be paired with a TKC 80 or TKC 70 front tire.
