Continental’s bets: ContiTrack, ContiRaceAttack 2 soft/med and ContiRaceAttack 2 Street
You probably know Continental makes some of the world’s best tires for Adventure and sport touring, but did you know we have tires for motorcycle road racing and track days? We are talking, for example, about the Continental ContiTrack, ContiRaceAttack 2 Street and the Continental ContiRaceAttack 2 soft/med.
On the one hand, the ContiTrack is presented as a slick developed exclusively for practice, racing and track days. They combine performance and durability and have a casing that offers greater stability under braking, precision in corner entry and greater traction on exit. They are designed for Supersport and Superbike bikes.
On the other hand, the ContiRaceAttack 2 soft/med are a DOT homologated and treaded race track tire for amateur racers. Its main feature is the BlackChil compound, which helps to improve lap after lap timing thanks to its fast warm-up and continuous grip (available in soft and medium compound).
And finally, the ContiRaceAttack 2 Street are is a race circuit and road tire, capable of transferring the performance of the racetrack to the highway. This tire also features the BlackChili compound and maximum predictability at the limit due to special carcass construction and tread compound. For even greater performance on the race track, the ContiRaceAttack 2 Street can be combined with the ContiRaceAttack 2 soft/medium.
Continental and world of US road racing and track days
With the introduction of this type of tire in its range, Contienental’s quick entry into the world of US road racing and track days. In 2019, Continental partnered with 2 road racing professionals, Keith Hertell and Eric Komrowski.
Eric Komrowski operates a sport bike specialty shop in Daytona Beach, Florida called MWC Performance (MWC Racing) offering suspension tuning, engine tuning and complete race bike builds. Eric has been riding and racing motorcycles for 19 years and has ridden on almost every brand of sport bike tire available. He has been selling race tires to his customers for 9 years but went to Continental exclusively in 2018. “Once we officially tested the Conti Track slick tires, we were blown away with their performance”. “The overall grip level, rider feedback and durability are amazing,” Eric says. The podium finishes, championships, and track records in the Florida Motorcycle Road Racing Association series are valid testament to that. MWC also sells the complete line of Continental tires for sport bikes from the budget-friendly Sport Attack to the premium Sport Attack 4 and Race Attack 2 Street.
