Track Test Day
A few weeks ago Continental invited the motorcycling press to Almeria (Spain) to present first-hand the new tire in its range: the ContiRoadAttack 4. For this event motorcycle product manager came directly from Germany to the Almeria circuit to explain, together with Continental engineers, each of the technologies applied to the latest launch. But that’s not all, the motoring press was also able to test the ContiRoadAttack 4 on the road… and on the track!
The ContiRoadAttack 4 has inaugurated a new segment within motorcycle tires, the hyper-touring category. It combines the characteristics of a road tire, such as durability, comfort and safety in wet conditions, with those of a sports tire, such as stability, grip and handling. This tire is capable of adapting to many types of motorcycles, as well as to the most advanced machines of the moment. Its compound has been optimized for a fast response to braking situations on motorcycles with ABS, thus providing added safety for the rider.
It is the fourth generation of a tire saga that began to be developed more than 15 years ago. The ContiRoadAttack 4, manufactured in Germany, features technologies such as Multigrip technology, which makes it more wear resistant, Tractionskin technology, which facilitates a quick break-in period, and ZeroDegree technology, which optimizes impact absorption, among others.
ContiRoadAttack 4 Tested by the Specialized Press
One of the main characteristics of the ContiRoadAttack 4 is that it is capable of giving maximum performance on many types of motorcycles, so Continental provided the press with different motorcycles so that they could certify the tire’s capabilities on each of them. Among the models selected were the BMW XR1000 and R850, the Kawasaki Versys 650, the Honda CB650, the KTM 790 Duke, the MV Brutale, the Honda Crosstourer or the Honda CB1300 among others.
First, the press tested the ContiRoadAttack 4 on a stretch of road to the circuit to assess their touring capabilities. Once at the Almeria circuit, a talk was held where the engineers were able to answer any questions about the new tires. Finally, it was time to ride on the circuit, where journalists could ride with the different bikes and test the capabilities of the ContiRoadAttack 4 to the limit. As it could not be otherwise, and to check their response in water, there were also specific tests in the wet. The specialized journalists agreed on the racing and touring properties of ContiRoadAttack 4: “Pushing them to the limit on the open road is virtually impossible. Faster warm-up, better grip in wet conditions and better handling, while maintaining dry grip and durability: what more could you ask for?”
At last, we leave this spectacular video for you to see a small summary of what was the test day with the press.
