TKC 80 tires as standard with off-road configuration
BMW is rolling out its 2021 BMW R nineT Urban G/S with more traction, power, standard features, and a new design. In addition, the off-road configuration model will be fitted standard with Continental TKC 80 tires.
Among the most important modifications on the 2021 BMW R nineT Urban G/S is the maximum power, which is now 80 kW (109 hp) at 7250 rpm, while the maximum torque remains 116 Nm at 6000 rpm. The designs have also been altered on the cylinder head, cylinder head cover and throttle valve parts. In addition, both models come standard with ABS Pro with DBC (Dynamic Brake Control) and a new suspension strut with travel-dependent damping (WAD).
Also included are two riding modes – “Rain” and “Road,”– classic design speedometer with new dial, LED lights, USB charging socket as standard and new paint finishes, highlighting the “40 Years GS Edition” of the Urban G/S, which is available as a limited edition. Finally, Continental is providing its TKC 80 on the off-road configuration of the BMW R nineT Urban G/S.
TKC 80, the Gold Standard tire for adventure riding
The TKC 80 has been on the market since 1985: 35 years, and it continues to be the favorite adventure tire for riders. Continental has worked over the years to adapt the TKC 80 to the requirements and technologies of the time, adjusting them to the requirements of the newer chassis.
The number one on/off tire for adventurers continues to impress because of the lugs in the tread, which generate enormous traction but without any loss of surprisingly good handling performance. The TKC 80 has been developed to offer a balanced orientation of 80% off-road and 20% asphalt, making it the perfect choice for adventurous bikers who also ride long stretches of road.
They have been tested on long routes and competitions, and have more than proved that they are capable of taking the bikes even further than usual, while also offering good road handling due to the stiffness of their lugs and rubber compounds developed for this purpose.
And for 2021, anyone who chooses the off-road configuration of the BMW R nineT Urban G/S will be able to experience the performance and riding characteristics of the TKC 80s directly. This is not the first time that BMW Motorrad has chosen Continental to fit its models, as it has also done with the BMW R 1250 GS and GS Adventure. Other brands such as KTM also rely on Continental for their standard tires.
