Beating the competition
Continental’s Conti Sport Attack 3 wins the 2017 hypersport tire test. The Austrian motorcycling magazine MOTORRAD tested five sports touring tires in sizes 120/70 ZR 17 (front) and 190/55 ZR 17 (rear) using the very powerful KTM 1290 Super Duke R motorcycle. Continental ended up beating Pirelli, Metzeler, Dunlop and Bridgestone with its halo hypersport tire.
A year after winning the Fast Bike Magazine hypersport test, the ContiSportAttack 3 claims victory once more. Tests were carried out at Wachauring Circuit in Melk, Austria and the results were published for the August/September MOTORRAD Magazin. The test was done in partnership with KTM headquarters in Mattighofen, Austria and with experienced test rider, Roland Schuch. The 180 hp motorcycle was equipped with special measuring equipment and sensors by KTM. This ensured the meticulous data and an overall idea of how the tires perform under various conditions was fair and objective for every tire brand.
After doing rigorous testing and evaluating key criteria, competitors couldn’t match Continental’s performance. Over many years, MOTORRAD Magazin testers have praised the SportAttack tire family, and this time is no different. Continental has been able to significantly enhance the positive features of the tire once again, especially in wet conditions. The new tire is therefore able to continue the success story of previous Continental test winners. MOTORRAD testers were impressed by Continental’s MultiGrip, TractionSkin, ZeroDegree, RainGrip and GripLimitFeedback Core Technologies implemented in the ContiSportAttack 3.
Praised by MOTORRAD Magazin
When testing limits at the track evaluation, MOTORRAD assured riders will be thrilled by the ContiSportAttack 3’s performance. “The CSA 3 needs two laps to get warmed-up but afterwards it is better than all the competitors. The grip at the rear tire is really high, even higher at the front tire. That leads to lots of trust when cornering – exactly what you need for sporty riding. Additional to that the turn-in is really easy, no tendency to wobble”, said MOTORRAD testers.
Wet weather master
The competition was the latest renderings from the top industry leaders: Dunlop SportSmart 2 Max, Bridgestone Battlax S21, Pirelli Diablo Rosso III, Metzeler Sportec M7RR. While the previous ContiSportAttack 2, performed very good in dry weather conditions and sporty handling, it was lacking performance in wet conditions. This was the main objective Continental wanted improve upon. “The CSA 3 is also the favorite tire when it comes to wet braking: In a wet brake test the CSA 3 just needs 9% more braking distance than on dry roads – sensational!!”, said MOTORRAD testers. Not bad for a hypersport tire.
The innovative GripLimitFeedback and other Continental Core Technologies give this hypersport tire the edge over the competition. Most importantly, it got a perfect 20/20 overall test score. With a lead of 6 points on the overall score to the closest rival, the ContiSportAttack 3 has made a clear statement in the market and stablished its mark as one of the best. Continental’s ultimate hypersport tire is designed to provide the rider with the upmost performance without compromising durability and safety.
The ContiSportAttack 3 is built to grip!
