Continental at Hot Bike Magazine Tour
What’s the best part about owning a motorcycle? Riding it, of course, and that’s what the Hot Bike Magazine Tour is about- riding your motorcycle with other like-minded enthusiasts. The tour takes place the second weekend of September and starts with 5 different routes, Northern, Southern, Eastern, Western and Smoky Mountain area of Tennessee and ends at a central location for custom bike shows, live music, vendors and food.
This year’s “kick-off” party was held at Smoky Mountain Harley-Davidson in Marysville, TN with a custom bike show, Drag races and great Tennessee BBQ. From there magazine readers, editors, custom bike builders and special guests rode to the final party in Johnson City, Tennessee for more live music, fantastic mountain roads, bike shows and fun.
Two of the most original custom bikes were built by Chris Eder of Epic Moto Co. Chris takes a basic Harley-Davidson Bagger and creates a unique, high performance, “café racer” style machine that could be re-created by the home bike builder using Epic Moto Co “bolt-on” parts. Chris chose the Conti TKC 80 for these bikes for the rough and rugged look they provide while maintaining excellent street manners for a very ride-able custom bike.
Smith Brothers Harley Davidson in Johnson City hosted plenty of vendors and was the starting point for Saturday’s self-guided rides through the scenic mountain roads. Memphis Shades was on hand at Smith Brothers and fitted the Continental Road King with a custom windshield. James Campbell of Memphis Shades did a great job of selecting a windshield that made the Conti Road King much more comfortable on the highway but still maintained the custom bike look.
The Hot Bike magazine tour is an annual event and worth checking out when it comes to your area. You’ll see lots of great bikes and make lots of new friends and best of all you’ll get to ride!
