ContiRoadAttack 3, launched this 2017
Continental’s ContiRoadAttack 3 wins the 2017 Motorrad Magazine sport-touring tire test. The German motorcycling magazine tested six sport-touring tires in sizes 120/70 ZR 17 (front) and 180/55 ZR 17 (rear) using the exciting Suzuki GSX-S750 motorcycle. Continental ended up beating Pirelli, Metzeler, Michelin, Dunlop and Bridgestone with its halo sport-touring tire.
After doing rigorous testing and evaluating key criteria including handling, behavior at the limit and in wet conditions, grip during acceleration and at lean angle positions, steering precision, cornering and straight-line stability – at the end of the day, competitors couldn’t match Continental’s performance. MOTORRAD Magazine testers have praised the sporty, country road tire for its incredible performance over many years. Continental has been able to significantly enhance the positive features of the tire once again, especially in wet conditions. The new tire is therefore able to continue the success story of previous Continental test winners. MOTORRAD testers were impressed by Continental’s MultiGrip, TractionSkin, ZeroDegree, RainGrip and EasyHandling Core Technologies implemented in the ContiRoadAttack 3.
For the dry road/sport evaluation, MOTORRAD assured riders will be thrilled by the ContiRoadAttack 3’s performance. “The razor-sharp precision and outstanding feedback (particularly at the front) will appeal in particular to sporty touring fans – in fact, they will be thrilled by it. After only the first few meters, the RoadAttack 3 excels thanks to its excellent response and impresses with its neutrality and stability when quickly weaving through bends”, said MOTORRAD testers.
The competition was the latest renderings from the top industry leaders: Bridgestone Battlax Touring T30 EVO, Dunlop RoadSmart III, MetzelerRoadtec 01, Michelin Pilot Road 4 and Pirelli Angel GT. While the previous RoadAttack 2 EVO, performed very good in dry weather conditions and sporty handling, it was lacking wet conditions performance and this was the main objective Continental wanted improve upon. “The EVO predecessor had already stepped it up in the wet and the new 3 series turns up the heat an extra notch. A forgiving limit range, excellent feedback and therefore a real pleasure to test – this Conti tire will put you in a good mood even in bad weather”, said MOTORRAD testers. Finishing only two points behind the MetzelerRoadtec 01 in wet testing, it proved to be a solid improvement that aided the ContiRoadAttack 3 win the overall test.
In general, the qualities of ContiRoadAttack 3 captivated MOTORRAD greatly. “Conti always did build very sporty tires for country roads and we have awarded them the ‘Country roads’ purchasing recommendation time and time again in the past. The brand new RoadAttack 3 is no exception. At the same time the developers have reworked the wet performance of the new tire with such effectiveness that, not only are they able to celebrate their first stage win as king of the country roads, but also have the 2017 test victory in the bag”, said the MOTORRAD staff.
It is such a great feeling to witness our products win and beat the competition. More than just a reassurance of our tire’s quality, is what we strive for.
Until next week!
